I also like the idea of children learning to draw and paint. When children learn an important subject like painting and drawing and how it is done. They will never forget. It is important to encourage children at a young age to do their best in whatever they do. That can be painting or anything else they have in their little minds.
It is also important to teach the basic of art and If needed find a teacher or someone who knows how to draw and paint and leave them learn from that person. Praise the children when they accomplish what they set out to do, do not criticize them.

Lindascraftworld

Hi,

My name is Linda Stewart. I was always interested in art. I used to trace everything I could when I was in elementary school. When I was in 5th grade I was supposed to do a project for geography class,so I decided to draw North and South America. I received and A on the drawing.By the way,I attended Upper Bern School in Shartlesville,Pa. and when I went to Hamburg Area High School, I began being interested in painting along with drawing. I had an art teacher who thought I was real good at drawing and painting she wanted to help me get started but my mom and dad didn't want anything to do with that idea. They didn't think it was more then a hobbie and decided I couldn't do this for a living, but I didn't give up. I went to work and got married and had my two children, Timothy and Valerie, then I decided to start drawing and painting again. I attended the International Correspondence School in Scranton, Pa. and received a master arts award.
I wasn't satisfied with that so I had 6 years of oil painting classes at Fred Wetzel’s art studio in Kempton, Pa. and 2 years of portrait classes at the Wyomissing Institute of fine Arts in Reading, Pa. I also had 4 years of watercolor classes with my high school art teacher in her home in Hamburg.
I received various ribbons from local fairs. I took my art to various markets and craft shows.
I paint animals, birds, landscapes, etc. from photographs.
I know would like to share my knowledge with oters, who are starting to draw and paint.
I have a website with the information I learned and still learning. If interested check out www.Lindas craft world

Turning Old Buildings into New Homes

In the last few years, the costs of residential homes and building costs have skyrocketed. As someone who lives in a large (and expensive) metro area, I've watched "starter home" prices become unaffordable for many. That's why I'm always interesting in housing alternatives, whether they be manufactured homes or kit homes you build on your own land or something else...

Converting old buildings into new homes. A book I found at Amazon falls into the something else category. Converting Old Buildings Into New Homes is just what is sounds like, a book that discusses turning old schools, factories, barns, and other largely abandoned buildings into livable dwellings.

If you live in a big city, you've probably seen this trend with turning old factories or warehouses into lofts or condos. Well, there are no rules that say you can't have a building all to yourself, and if you watch the Home & Garden Channel's ReZoned show, you'll see all sorts of examples of people who have taken old public or private buildings and turned them into cool homes to live in.

Of course, if you're remodeling a huge space, the cost is going to get expensive, but an old barn or smaller building could be an effective way to get into a great home... providing you're willing to do the work (and there sure is a lot of work involved with something like this).

To get the lowdown on the process, check out the book shown here. Here's the cover blurb:

"This book examines every aspect of converting types of redundant property including surveys, legislation and regulations, professional help and advice, and budgeting and insurance. It also discusses design and location of various living spaces; external features; lighting, heating, ventilation, energy conservation, and acoustics; and it guides the reader through contracts, quotations, planning the project, timetables, and on-site operations. It includes a number of case studies which demonstrate what can be achieved with different types of property."

When buying new appliances weigh up both the purchase price and the estimated energy use. In many cases, you may actually save money by buying the more expensive, more energy-efficient model.

Ask about special energy-efficient offers. Government grants, low-interest loans or other incentive programs are often offered to encourage consumers to buy energy-efficient appliances. Ask your salesperson or local authority what grants are available in your area.

Read the Energy Guide label. This yellow and black label is required by the FTC to be attached to most new appliances. It states the estimated annual energy consumption of the appliance. This helps you compare the efficiency or annual energy use of different brands and models.

My Story
As a mom, I have very little time and even less patience to remedy laundry problems, so it was either toss out the clothes or have my children look like “rag-a-muffins.” It was about 15 years ago when I began my quest to find ingredients to remove the stains, and that was when I discovered the toxic nature of many stain remover products. Flashing back to my early twenties, I didn’t pay much attention to what foods I was eating — fast food or sweets — if I was hungry I ate. My lack of awareness changed the moment I knew I was “expecting” and I immediately changed my eating habits. As I grew physically, I also grew mentally. I learned of the vast variety of fruits of veggies available, and how to prepare yummy recipes by reading specialty cookbooks and magazines. And there I began to live a healthy eating lifestyle. Now, fast forward to where I started my story… I began concocting my own natural ingredient formulas and testing them on my childrens’ clothes. Mostly I searched through books, but when the internet became popular, websites were an amazing new resource. I learned of many ingredients I needed to buy. A challenge I ran into was that I didn’t need to buy a whole quart or gallon of one ingredient, but rather I only needed a little of this and a little of that — it didn’t make financial sense to buy in such large quantities. Most of the time the self-made concoctions did the job, but the problem was the tremendous amount of time I spent driving to pick up the miscellaneous ingredients, and the significant amount of money spent buying them. I knew there had to be a better, an easier way to bring my ideas to life and create my own products. This idea was tabled until 2006. I found myself thinking “I’m just going to go for it (there’s no perfect time for anything). I’m going to contact as many organic chemists that will listen to me, tell them about my formulas, experiences with toxic ingredients,” etc.…you name it I shared it and dove right into developing my own laundry products. It was wonderful. My newly found team was just as passionate as I was in creating these healthy products. We had our minds set on creating healthy and effective laundry solutions, and then I added one little thing to the whole equation: I wanted to simplify the chore of doing laundry. Valuing the importance of laundry I set out to create a new approach to simplifying the laundry process. So that’s when the idea of little pre-measured pods popped into my head. The team kicked into high gear, re-formulating the detergent formulas into powder, which also meant we could be more green since we didn’t add un-needed water to our concentrate. Before I knew it I had developed a few products and a whole variety are in various stages of development and testing. (I hope to release my instant stain removers by the end of 2009.) What a journey it has been… My wish is that the grabgreen™ laundry products make it easier for you to make simple choices for your healthy home too.

Grab Green story

The grab green™ brand was born through the need to find a solution to remove specific laundry stains from my children’s clothing –– the all purpose instant stain remover products just weren't doing the job. Go Green in 2010! What better time to start a green lifestyle than a new year?? I say this is the perfect time to start! Going green is not very hard. All you need to do is make one right choice at a time!
Simple Ways to Make 2010 the Year of Green!

* recycle. If you do not already…start.
* reuse. Make efforts to reuse items that would normally add to already overstuffed landfills. For example: reuse your plastic baggies. It will save money AND space in the landfills!
* go organic. Try an organic eating lifestyle. Not only is it better for the environment, it is a healthier eating option as well.
* drive less. If you can walk or bike ride more, do it. The less you drive the less you leave toxins in the atmosphere and rain natural resources.
